In its fourth year, the Vancouver Mini Maker Faire (VMMF) returns at the PNE Forum June 7 and 8 to inspire DIY enthusiasts at Vancouver’s biggest show and tell. At this family-friendly event, over 100 diverse Makers come together as a community to share what they have made and learned with interactive displays, demonstrations, and Making opportunities relating to art, electronics, robotics, music, crafts, kinetic sculptures, fire art, computer hacking, quilting, farming, engineering, and everything in between. Attendees who visit find that they want to become Makers in subsequent years. All are invited to participate – we are all makers!

2014 Highlights

Workshop Series

The Vancouver Mini Maker Faire’s first-ever Workshop Series promises a diverse and exciting line-up! Whether you want to learn to build a robot, take part in a little bit of craftivism, have a lesson in upcycling, or learn some old-school letterpress skills, we’ve got something for you!

Make It Happen

Make It Happen is a showcase of ways people are sharing knowledge and resources. It is a partnership between Vancity Credit Union and Share Vancouver, including Modo The Car Co-op. Share Vancouver is led by sharing organizations collaborating to build and sustain sharing locally, in concert with the global collaborative economy movement. Its founding members include Modo The Car Co-op, Vancouver Tool Library, Share Shed, Vancouver Hack Space, Trade School Vancouver, The HiVE, Vancouver Community Laboratory (CoLab), Terminal City Glass Co-op, PogoRide, and Part-Time Pooch.

The group is collaborating with Vancouver Shareable, The Sharing Project and others to establish a centralized online hub of resources to facilitate sharing among individuals, co-ops and other organizations. Check out their interactive map of sharing resources across the city!

Speakers Series

We’ve got some remarkable and inspiring speakers lined up for the 2014 Speakers Series.  Jessica Oman of Write Ahead will teach you how to turn your ideas into reality in her “Can Your Invention Make Money?” presentation; author Kim Werker will share her thoughts on failure (and the stories we tell ourselves about failure); and local teacher Danny Tsang will tell us about his experiences using 3D printers with his secondary school students.
