BLIM Community Market – Sunday March 25th

While we at Vancouver Mini Maker Faire believe everyone is a Maker, if you prefer to admire, touch, squeeze, play with, be inspired by or wear things made by others, come check out the Blim Community Market this coming Sunday at the Heritage Hall on Main Street.  Their market includes 48 vendors ranging from crafts, fine art, music, fashion, vintage items, accessories, and supplies, as well as hot food, beverages, and entertainment.

You will also find representatives from your friendly VMMF organizing team at our very own table to answer questions, recruit volunteers, sign up new makers for VMMF2012, and sell some nifty swag (including our must-have Maker buttons!).

What: BLIM Community Market

Our Social Fabric Fundraiser & Vintage Show

Our Social Fabric is a non-profit dedicated to textiles recycling and re-manufacturing. They help to divert the staggering amount of unused textiles that flood our landfills. They have monthly sales of these off-cuts and castaway fabrics which is a true delight for any crafter. Pause for cell phone panorama of their last sale:

Not pictured: me leaving with two giant bolts of fabric and other bits for just over $50; ridiculous.

To the point… This Saturday, they are holding a Vintage Fashion show at the Rickshaw Theatre to raise funds for their venture.

This event seems like a great excuse whip out that  retro outfit and enjoy an evening of live entertainment. Six vintage clothing stores, each representing a different era and theme, will strut their stuff on the catwalk in a friendly competition judged by the audience. If you’re one of those audience members your outfit might just win you VIP passes to Eco-Fashion Week too. Live music from Juno Award winning Moka Only and local band Prisoners will then kick the evening into high-gear afterwards.
